I had an interesting experience today. I needed to fill air in one of the tires in my car so I stopped by a gas station. With four quarters in hand, I got of the car and saw that a White Cadillac had pulled up nearby. I hesitated at first but I walked up to the car.
The driver was an older gentleman who relectuntly pulled down his window in the way people do when they see strangers walk up to their car. I told him that I was only filling air in one tire so he could fill up his tires with the money I put in. He smiled and parked perpendicular to my car.
As I filled the tire, we made small talk about the weather (it was windy) and I handed the air pressure hose to him when I was done. In that same motion he put two quarters in my hand; I smiled and thanked him.
I didn't ask him for the money but it was a nice gesture worth sharing.
